What does your shop do?

Pick all that apply, like you did at sign-up. We’ll show only the steps you need.

Switching from Cents or CleanCloud? Bring your customers and prices with you in step 2, or email us and we’ll do it with you.

Your first day

Three things, and you’re open.

Add your prices.

Every item becomes a button at the counter.

Connect your printer.

A customer copy and a store copy print the moment you take an order.

Take your first order.

Your customer gets a text the moment it’s ready.

Before you begin

Have these ready.

About an hour in all. Stop whenever you like: your ticks stay on this device.

  • The computer by your register, with Chrome. Any Windows PC or Mac from the last 5 years.
  • Your receipt printer and its USB cable.
  • Your tag printer and barcode scanner, if you have them.
  • Any scale. You weigh the bag and type the pounds.
  • Your phone, charged. You film your floor with it.
  • Your price list, or an export from Cents or CleanCloud.
  • Your staff’s names.

Setup

Six steps to your first order.

Account created. You did that when you signed up.

Step 1 of 6 · 5 minutes

Set up the counter.

Open pos.foldpos.com in Chrome on the computer by your register, and bookmark it. Most shops already own the rest.

For tags, add a tag printer and a barcode scanner.

Any scale works: weigh the bag and type the pounds.

Most store owners use Windows. Chrome gives the easiest printing.

What most counters already have.

Step 2 of 6 · 15 minutes

Add your prices.

Settings › Import data

Export your customers and prices from Cents, CleanCloud or a spreadsheet, then pick the file. No list? Start from ours.

Price by the pound with a minimum, by the bag or by the piece.

Every garment becomes a button at the counter.

Check what came in. You can undo an import.

Each line of your list becomes a price button.

Step 3 of 6 · 10 minutes

Connect your printer.

Settings › Receipts › Connect printer

Plug the receipt printer into the counter computer by USB. In Chrome, pick it from the list and print a test page.

On Windows with Edge or Firefox, or if the list is empty, pair the free print helper. On a Mac, use Chrome.

Tag printer: run Calibrate cutter once in Settings › Receipts. Each piece gets its own tag: 1/3, 2/3, 3/3.

No need to add the printer in Windows or macOS first.

No tag printer yet? Start with receipts and add tags when you’re ready.

Step 4 of 7 · Optional

Map your machines.

Laundromat

Open Laundromat in Fold POS and point your phone at the code on the screen. Film one slow walk down each aisle, check the floor Fold draws, then scan each machine. Your floor becomes a live map: what’s free, what’s running and how long is left.

About 10 to 20 minutes. Fold stickers come in the mail for machines with no barcode.

Later is fine. The counter works without it.

Open Fold POS
Your floor, live: blue means running.

Step 4 of 6 · 10 minutes · Optional

Invite your staff.

Employees, in the left menu

Give each person their own login and a 4-digit code. Between customers, a code unlocks the counter as that person, so every order shows who took it.

Staff check orders in and out. Only you change prices and settings.

Open Fold POS
A 4-digit code unlocks the counter as that person.

Step 5 of 6 · 5 minutes · Optional

Check your customer texts.

Settings › Customer texts

The ready text goes out in your shop’s name, in English or Spanish. Change the wording or turn off anything you don’t want.

Nothing to switch on. Texts are on already.

Open Fold POS
Texts go out in your shop’s name.

Step 6 of 6 · 5 minutes

Take your first real order.

Tap the items, take payment, and the ticket prints with a tag for every piece. For wash & fold, weigh the bag and type the pounds.

Or press Caps Lock and say it. Hey Fold reads it back and waits for your “yes”.

Cards run on your own terminal. Fold records the payment.

Open Fold POS
Tap, pay, print. That’s a normal day.

When you’re ready

Grow into it later.

Every pickup and drop-off in one route.

Run pickup & delivery.

Build the day’s routes on a map. Drivers use the Fold Driver app, and customers get a text at each step. On Growth and Pro.

How delivery works

Find any piece.

Every order has a Pieces view, and Find a piece on Orders finds any tag in seconds. Send work to a plant? Every bag is scanned at each hand-off.

Follow the bag

Talk to your counter.

Say the customer, the pieces and when it’s due. Hey Fold rings it up, reads it back and waits for your “yes”. On every plan.

Meet Hey Fold

Worried about…?

Most worries have a short answer.

What if the internet drops?

The counter keeps taking orders and sends them when it’s back.

Do I need new hardware?

Most shops already own what Fold POS needs. It works with Epson, Star, Bixolon and Zebra printers, impact or thermal, USB or network.

Windows says “Windows protected your PC.”

That appears because the print helper is new. Click More info, then Run anyway. The helper only talks to Fold POS and your printers.

What happens after the 14-day trial?

Pick a plan in Settings › Plan & billing. If you don’t, the POS goes read-only. Everything you entered stays.

Stuck? Email us.

Tell us which step, and we’ll do it with you.
